GOOD EATS AND SWEET TREATS AT THE J CAFÉ
WEEKLY challah and babkA
Thursdays and Fridays are everybody’s favorite days at Jewish for Good, when the nostalgic aroma of fresh-baked, scratch-made challah and babka waft out into the parking lot, luring Jewish and non-Jewish folks alike into the Levin JCC to pick up their weekly fix. Whether for your Shabbat dinner or for Havdallah French toast, this INDY Week 2020 and 2021 Finalist for Best Bread in Durham County is a local fave that sells out fast.

Ordering HELPFUL TIPS
Pre-order is required. Click here to order! Orders must be placed by 2pm on Wednesdays. Each week, only a small handful of extras are made for the brave spontaneous bread lover. We can’t guarantee loaves will be available at the J if you don’t pre-order!
Didn’t place your order in time for this Friday’s pickup? The Durham Co-op Market and Sundries @ LocoPops stock the J Café challah and babka, too, and often have loaves available through the weekend.
Pick-up: If you pre-order, you may pick up your items on Friday after 2pm at the Welcome Desk inside the Levin JCC. Need to pick up your order earlier? Email our team at info@jewishforgood.org, and we’ll do our best to arrange it!

CEREMONIAL CHALLAH LOAVES
Looking for the perfect additional to your special occasion?
Our large ceremonial challot are braided and baked with love -- and perfect for b’nai mitzvahs, weddings, and other celebrations. These loaves are the equivalent of two-and-a-half loaves of our traditional challah.

Caffeine and Co-working
Fresh-brewed coffee and handcrafted espresso drinks, made from Durham’s Counter Culture Coffee, and Two Leaves and a Bud Tea, pair well with the gorgeous, open, natural light-filled Singer Family Atrium. Just a few feet away, with couches to lounge on, is the Marcus Art Gallery, featuring art from local and international Jewish and Israeli artists. Tables and seating spill out onto an outdoor patio on which you can nosh, sip and co-work when a Group Ex class isn’t in session. Even though The Singer Family Atrium no longer requires masks, it is definitely encouraged. If you are actively eating and drinking with your mask off, co-working is welcome in our other conference rooms that are not otherwise being used. The good news? There’s always free Wifi!
J Café SNACK BAR
In the summer months, our poolside snack bar serves up cold sodas, juice, sparkling water, ice cream and Locopops, chips, candy, delicious hot snacks like pizza and hot dogs, and an occasional scratch-made J Café special like honeysuckle sorbet and scuppernong or pomegranate popsicles! Open May-August.
